battle comes, Xena's thoughts.

Darkness

Darkness pours into my mind
Cooling embers take the light
In the silence you are dreaming
I breathe you in
Softly dying ember of my life 

Touch to skin
Burning soft
Sallow sickness spinning off
All the world is falling down
I hear a breaking sound 

A river overflowing
Crashing through my soul
Stillness meets the torrent
Nailed to the floor
By your words 

Stand to fight
And let you go
The wind screams
Take her, go! 

Darkness seeps into my soul
Blacking out this light
There is nothing here

Without you 

The world is dark and cold
You take the sun
Inside your eyes
And the fire burns me whole 

I hold you in the silence
Warming in your light
Nothing holds us back now
As I slip into the night 

And the world falls down around me
My death comes in her sight
There is nothing here 
Without you 

Take my hand
I'll stand and fight.
